Classroom Technology Demonstrations

                                                                     -MORE INFORMATION-

Starting This Fall (2023)

IS Classroom Technology Support will be hosting classroom technology demonstrations September 20th-22nd.

If you are unfamiliar with the technology in the registrar- or joint-controlled room you will be teaching in, want to know how to troubleshoot if something goes wrong, or have any questions, please stop by!

Sessions will take place:

*Note: These are the correct dates. There was an error on our behalf on the half sheet poster on classroom lecterns.

- September 20th from 2pm-4pm in Lokey Education 117 (MEDIUM ROOM SESSION)

- September 21st from 2pm-4pm in Friendly 106 (SMALL ROOM SESSION)

- September 22nd from 2pm-4pm in PLC 180 (LARGE ROOM SESSION)

These sessions will be two hours each and broken into two parts. The first 30 minutes will be technology demonstations, where we will go over:

  • Who we are and what we do.
  • How to properly get set up technologically in small, medium, or large classrooms.
  • Simple troubleshooting tactics.
  • A walkthrough of all technology within our small, medium and large rooms.

The following 90 minutes will be for:

  • Drop-in technology trainings. Feel free to bring your own computer for a 1:1 training with a technician!
  • Questions
  • If you are not able to make it to the primary demonstrations but still would like to learn more about the rooms you will be teaching in.

!IMPORTANT!

We will be hosting these sessions in example rooms for small, medium, and large classroom setups. The sessions will show you how to get set up in most rooms of these three sizes. For refrenece:

  • Small Rooms: Hold 1-40 people. These are the simplest setups, with one display and basic inputs.

  • Medium Rooms: Hold 40-100 people. They have similar setups to small rooms, but start including multi-displays and mics/assistive listening devices in some rooms.

  • Large Rooms: Hold 100+ people. They have the most complex setups for large lectures, with multiple projectors in some rooms and mics/assistive listening devices in all rooms.

Each session will be geared more toward the room size each room is an example of (i.e. Lokey Education > Medium, Friendly 106 > Small, PLC 180 > Large). That said, if you cannot make a session matching the room you will be in this fall, don't be discouraged! Small/Medium rooms are fairly similar to each other and the Large Room session, while less similar, will still provide a basic overview of general room tech for people who may be beginners.
